The Gift of Imagination

Posted on November 20, 2015 by Amazing Capes

While walking around the park the other day I passed a parent who was pushing their child in a stroller; her perceptive eyes were glued to the screen of a small tablet as they went along the path. I noticed her eyes didn't gravitate from the screen as we passed the tall misty fountain nor did they look curiously upon a family of nearby ducks. Rather the screen held focus as it edged out the time old tradition of people-watching as humans and doggies jogged pass. Now if this had been any adult it probably would have felt happenstance; I realized what felt so arresting to me was how this scene was well on its way to becoming the norm as well.

Original thought will naturally flow freely for a child; but how will their own thoughts emerge as we push them along with the same small screens? For children it's especially important to be given tools that stimulate their cognitive learning abilities; a cape is one such tool. The beauty is in its simplicity; the owner has the power to create the world they imagine while they engage with their surroundings creatively and purposefully. When this happens one enjoys the beauty of living life fully. Much of the excitement that one seeks on the screen is actually being played out. What better gift is there? Let's spread the joy of imagination to those you love this holiday season.

Starting School For the First Time Can be Scary; Turn it Into an Adventure

Posted on July 28, 2015 by Amazing Capes

Do you remember your first day of school? I remember those early days of Kindergarten as having the feeling of walking on eggshells... For starters, there was the word that shall not be named: P R I N C I P A L  {SHUDDER!} that my 5 year old self prayed I would NEVER EVER have to face. Remember THAT KID who saw Mr. Nesbit and never came back? During nap time, they would turn out the lights in Mrs. Brown's classroom at Weaverville Primary School, and I remember trying to breathe so quietly; I didn't want to draw any attention to myself. Eventually, as strangers became friends, as my teacher became familiar, and I learned to separate the fact from fiction in The Harrowing Tales of What Happens in the Principal's Office- going to school evolved into a daily adventure, rather than a daunting tip-toe each day into the frightful setting of an unfamiliarity.

I can only imagine that for all those small children with ever-so-active imaginations who will be starting school for the first time this year, that many of them feel somewhat scared or intimidated by the encroaching school year. We believe an Amazing Cape is an incredible gift to help any child feel more powerful and in control of their new school year experience. Along with a natural ability to develop cognitive learning powers, a cape becomes an active tool to help those malleable minds feel more confident and empowered. YES! You little one, can tackle this new adventure of going to school! Let's kick fears to the curb and share with these young minds all the adventure that awaits a lifetime of learning.

Here is a link to an article with more tips on preparing your child for the school year :)
